BACK IN THE USA

Hear we are in Spokane, a two night stay this time..a well earned rest from driving,
This is a great city about the size of Geelong,just on the Washington/Idaho boarder. We are staying in our most upmarket hotel yet...usually its Best Western or Quality Inn Motels
To get here we came through gorges and country that looks like South Australian desert with the salt bush everywhere. We went through broad acre farmland wirh miles and miles of ploughed land with little whirl winds here and there. We looiked at an historic town and then we arrived at Spokane where we found our accommodation and then...... we went to the Pig Out Destival !! Actually very orderly but you could buy lots of different food a bit like the Mindal Beach market at Darwin but eith lots and lots of people everywhere, there were also a few bands playing aound the town park which is in the middle of the city. To boot the day was lovely, and we have not had any rain yet on our trip so far. We hace looked at a brochure and there is enough around this area to keep us busy for a week. Guess what... we had to produce our ID to buy a glass of beer at the fair, we were amused but it is the law around here that everyone has to show it, even in restaurants. Ron started up a conversation with a couple of policeman who were working the fair and they told us about the liquor law, they also told us so much about touring the area, they were very helpful.... Americans are so polite and are very friendly. So much for now we will keep you posted.
