YELLOWSTONE HISTORIC NATIONAL PARK

Today we headed off through the Roosevelt Arch leading to the Yellowstone NP which was declared by law the first national park in America in the 1850;s.  We stayed at Gardiner the  night at the edge of the park it was quite an interesting little town with quite a history of gold prospecting, it certainly had a  wild west feel about it. In the park we traveled along with lots of other cars along the road looking at the scenery which included grasslands with herds of bison, actually we had to stop for the bison to get off the road. well one man got impatient and started yelling and shooing them off the road, he was a bit brave as they say don't approach the animals. We didn't see any bears or any of the other animals other than one elk sitting alone.  We saw geysers the famous one being Old Faithfull. and thermal pools and lots of nice scenery along the way. We enjoyed the day and possibly depending on which way we take tomorrow we may travel back through some of the  park again. Tonight we are staying at West Yellowstone, staying at the Brandin Iron Inn, and we had dinner at the Smoky Beaver, where I had a moose drool beer and Ron had a silver lizard lager, plus pulled pork for tea, I hear you ask what is that?   it is actually shredded smoked meat it was quite nice. So much for now we will keep you posted.
