FROM GRAND LAKE TO FRUITA.....COLORADO

Tonight we are in Fruita, surrounded by the mountain range called the Mesa.
But the real story is in the journey to get here.
For more than 2 hours we tumbled thousands of feet down the Rocky Mountains from east to west on Hwy 70. All on a double dual road at 120km per hour, along with hundreds of other cars, trucks, RV's and massive 4x4's. A major train line also snaked its way through the mountains often following the river within what seemed to be just a few feet.
We followed the valleys most of the way .Running along side the road were a couple of great rivers, massive peaks towered above us..We also passed (by-passed really) a  dozen or more ski resort villages just waiting for the winter snow.....   it was an exhausting  but spectacular drive.
As we neared Fruita the scenery changed we are now in the valley floor, we have seen grape vines, orchards of fruit trees and pine forest.
What a day. It all ended with a great thunder storm at 7.30pm...we had to run from a restaurant to our motel
..yes you read right ...ran!!
